Goals

The specific objectives of The Massage Practitioner Certificate Program are that the student will:

• 1. Learn a broad range of physical manipulations and know how and when to apply various strokes and techniques.
• 2. Be able to focus life energy and channel it creatively for healing.
• 3. Give a nurturing massage and be able to alleviate pain and provide other symptomatic relief.
• 4. Acquire insight into the dynamics of the healing process and an understanding of the underlying causes of disease.
• 5. Understand the anatomy of the human body with its structural and functional interrelationships.
• 6. Respond effectively to the emotional expression and physicalrelease of clients.
• 7. Learn the counseling skills necessary to facilitate client'sself-awareness. v 8. Develop the self-confidence and intuitive freedom to trust her/his innate healing abilities.
• 9. Increase sensitivity to and awareness of her/his own needs and values.
• 10. Develop a sense of professionalism.
• 11. Build a string foundation for further studies in the holistic health field.

Facilities

All classes will be held at 200 7th Avenue, Santa Cruz, California. Ample off- street parking is available.

The classes will be conducted in classrooms with heating and air conditioning available. Restroom facilities are adjacent to each classroom.

Cypress Health Institute, its classrooms and all the facilities it occupies (and the equipment it utilizes) fully comply with any and all federal, state and local ordinances as to fire safety, building safety and health standards.

Philosophy

The Cypress Health Institute is a nonprofit education organization dedicated to the teaching of preventative and holistic health care practices. We wish to provide an opportunity for the interested students to acquire professional training in a broad spectrum of therapeutic skills useful in facilitating a high level of physical, mental and emotional well being in both themselves and others. Program emphasis is on a commitment to professional integrity, personal growth and therapeutic effectiveness. It is our intention that the conscientious student will graduate as a massage therapist of the highest caliber.

Approval Status

The Cypress Health Institute has been licensed since 1982. The Cypress Health Institute is operating with approval under California Educational Code Section 94311 (d). Our graduates are fully certified under guidelines issued by the California Superintendent of Public Instruction, State Department of Education.
